Child portrait thread painting by jennifer day
I have been working hard on my quilt for Celebrating silver. I am in the final stretch now! This is a two year old girl. I was able to capture her sweet face very well. I can't show everyone the whole quilt until its unavailing at the IQF show in Houston 2014. Darn. I have another two days of stitching left and am up to 87 threads in this quilt!

Tired after a long day thread painting with Jennifer Day
B Bear, the dog, hung with me throughout the completion of the last quilt. I was on a deadline and spent many long hours at the machine. Seems like this put the Old English Sheep Dog over the top! Now it is down time for both of us for a day before tackling the next project.
Here is what the boy looks like when he is sitting next to me as I sew. What a difference!

Over the moon - thread painting by Jennifer Day
I am over the moon! I was just notified that my quilt - "Women Helping Others" won first place in The Festival Gallery of Quilt Art:
Traditions Show.
I get my hotel paid for and round trip airfare to Houston. Also a check for $2,500!
Yes...I will be in Houston this year at the IQF show. See you there! — feeling happy.

Garden Wonder quilt - thread painting by Jennifer Day
I do not paint...yet! I use a photograph on fabric. I cover the photograph 100% in thread. See an in progress image using 12 threads and a finished image using 19 threads on the fingers. I am now offering classes on my technique. See info on my websitewww.jdaydesign.com!
I have used 12 colors of thread at this point in the process.
This is the finished section of the quilt using 19 colors on the fingertips. The key is blending.
This is the original photograph that I start with.

Here is a detail of dirty fingernails!
And the reverse of the quilt!
Thread painting - Jennifer Day 264 threads
I finally finished the earth stories quilt! It took 264 different colors of thread! It also took me 5 hours to put all the threads back in order! Next time, I will write down the numbers and put them back as I use them! I finished that quilt right before I left for Houston.
